Goals or “Wishes”...You decide

(Ron D. Garrett) #1

This ALSO applies to someone who has just begun their keto journey or who has been on for a while and has hit a stall in their fat/weight loss.

The bigger question SHOULD be “was that goal that you set a true goal or not?” A person will fight to reach a true goal but they will often quit if what they desire is only a “wish”.

Determine today if your stated goals are really “wishes” and if possible do what it takes to turn the “wishes” into goals. Either way…STOP PLAYING because you deserve to be the YOU that YOU want to be!

While I agree with your post, I would also add what kept me going.

Ask yourself “what better option is available to attain the goal/wish”?
If I remembered to ask myself this occasionally when things got tuff, it would give me strength again to pursue.

I think people forget this.:face_with_raised_eyebrow::thinking:
Good post, I always enjoy reading yours!:joy::handshake:

I agree

We can also change our goals. Realizing I was a sugar addict, I set my first goal as eliminating sugar and sweets only, so as to avoid becoming diabetic (diabetes runs in the family). I felt so good being sugar-free that it became very easy to go full keto (like all addicts, I really wanted that good feeling, lol!).

Not only do I feel so much better on keto, my metabolic disfunction has been healed and I lost sixty pounds into the bargain. My new goal is to lose about fifty more, though I might better call it a wish, since I feel so good right now that I could just maintain where I currently am without further effort.

+gazillion. I cut carbs to attack my diabetes. The weight loss was a fringe benefit. Started Keto at 255 @ A1c 7.4. Never imagined could ever break 250 (not since 1985, college).
2.5 months Keto - A1c 6.0, BP 120/70, all medications stopped. Oh yeah, lost 40lbs - unexpected bonus!

That’s really good. I’d be willing to bet that by the time you’ve been keto for six months your HbA1C will be completely normal.

Hi Ron
My wishes became goals! And I’ll never go back to wishes. As a T1D for 45 years I wanted to lose the weight which feeding my exogenous insulin had resulted in and improve my BG (and hence HbA1c) results. I’m into my 14th week today, 9 kg lost, reduction of HbA1c from 73 mmol/mol to 53 mmol/mol and improvement of mental as well as physical health is amazing. I feel like a different person. I bought a pair of jeans 2 sizes smaller than usual and in 10 weeks wear them easily. I’ve already bought another pair 2 further sizes smaller as these are my goal now!

My goals are now to reduce weight loss by a further 9 kg, reduce HbA1c to 43 mmol/mol (UK measurements) and get into those size 10 jeans!

My hubby doesn’t need to lose weight but wants the mental/physical benefits I’m experiencing and has reduced his carb intake and has committed to keto once we get back from our holiday, so in 3 weeks time we’ll have another person benefiting from the keto WOE.

“Remarkable” is my summary. This forum has been inspirational for me. Thank you to everyone who contributes in such a positive way

All these motivational speeches… making me want to argue back.

Of course, you would need to fight harder for the goal, and I understand that so far. But… I had an idea about it though.

If there is someone who wants to get fat, he doesn’t even need to pay any effort. He just needs to simply eat as normally as he could without giving any attention(basically, SAD thing), then he can get fat already.

But, if someone wants to get slim, he needs to pay so many effort… <_<

So, it is not like the effort required to achieve any goal is the same. or let’s put it the other way around: It is not like every goal needs much effort.

We will have to agree to disagree. As a lifelong personal trainer this has been my philosophy for years and it works for me so I shared it. If your philosophy works for you then ignore mine and do you.

Either way…no worries so keep calm and keto on as we are still Keto family whether we agree or disagree!

Be blessed!
