I’m never near 1 GKI. Usually near 5+, especially in the mornings, when my blood sugar is over 100.

A low GKI requires fasting, the degree dependent on insulin sensitivity. When I’m adhering to a LC diet, it takes 3-4 days of fasting for my GKI to drop below 1. Another factor that effects it is exercise. Doing heavy exercise will increase my BG, thus raising my GKI. I’ve found that inadequate sleep also has an impact, especially when trying to stay ~1.
