Glucose curve

(Emily Cole) #1

Today was my first time doing a glucose curve to see if the liquid splenda drops spike my insulin at all. I’m new to this and still unsure what my numbers mean.
T0 - 89 mg/dl
T30 - 90 mg/dl
T60 - 91 mg/dl
T90 - 90 mg/dl

Does this mean that I didn’t get a response from this particular sweetener?

What is a guideline to go by for knowing what does spike my insulin?

Meters have a maximum 95% accuracy rating so they can vary 5 mg/dl minimum between tests. Your numbers are within 2 mg/dl’s so I would say that you have no response to your Splenda drops and I would go ahead and use them.:+1:

Cool, thank you so much! I think I’ve seen somewhere on here that a rule of thumb is anywhere around 30 mg/dl for a spike to avoid a specific food. Is this correct? Or what is a good one to go by?

I would think anything over 10 is going to be a glucose response and above the variable of the meter inaccuracy. The higher carb the higher it will probably go. Substitute sweeteners could be all over the place but if you go above 10 I would say you are getting a reaction.:slightly_smiling_face:
