Every “negative” they tried to assign can simply be explained by two statements in that same article.

  • Physicians also note many patients start GLP-1s to treat obesity without proper counseling from a health provider about diet and exercise and how to manage side effects.
  • Fewer than 1% of U.S. physicians are board-certified in obesity medicine, and medical school traditionally devoted limited training in obesity care.

I’ve come and gone a handful of times now, with months in between, I accounted for that, and no issues, no regain of anything other than gain I caused on purpose.

I swear they’re putting out these negatives on purpose so they can make something else to allegedly combat it. I know a LOT of other people on GLP-1’s, every single person I know that’s had negatives, are all the ones getting it from mainstream docs that don’t ever mention learning proper nutrition and fitness. For the people that ONLY use it as a chemical cheat and not a tool to get ahead, ya, they’re going to have problems, and they deserve them. That, and doc’s overdose people on them, the weight loss clinics don’t, they have the financial smarts to know if everybody they treat is going around saying they want to throwup all day long and are cramping like a champ that people will stop coming.

Funny how that works! Mainstream medicine is crap because of the money they make, private care is better because of the money they make. Difference is people will stop paying for private care if they don’t deliver on what they say, but for the mainstream, people will indefinitely go regardless of whether they ever do their job or not. Makes sense if you don’t think about it!

I know your views on socialized medicine and I agree it’s not a good solution in many ways, but I swear to god, Health should not be a privatized commodity to be sold to the highest bidder, with the health-seeking held hostage by that price, and the rest of the world held hostage to a low price for things that don’t actually work. These manipulations are ruining the lives of just about every person who’s part of modern society. Got to be a better way to do this.

I would think it’s about alignment of incentives. When healthcare consumers are not paying (a reasonable price) for what they are consuming, there is a disconnect in supply and demand. And the quality of care reflects any such mismatch, too. This seems to be a part of what you’re getting at.

I’m one of those who started a GLP-1 last May when I had hit the limit of progress I was making with low carb diet, fasting, and metformin alone. I did a lot of research before starting and understood that I would probably need to stay on it in maintenance long term to keep the results. For me it is worth it to stick with it because I do not have bad side effects. Taking tirzepatide has allowed me to lose weight slowly while not having to be extremely restrictive and obsessive with my eating. (I often had trouble keeping the constant focus required to not fall off the low carb or fasting wagon when things got busy or work got stressful.) After the first 6 months of it I was finally able to lower my A1c below the prediabetes level. I try to generally eat healthfully, and I do strength training to maintain muscle mass.

A couple years ago in a 2 Keto Dudes podcast, Carl mentioned starting Ozempic. I wonder how it worked for him and if he is still taking it now. I was dubious about taking these types of medicines back then, but have slowly changed my mind over the months of reading about them. I see them as a type of hormone replacement now.

@Nutbar Great to hear of a success story as you’ve shared! Used wisely, judiciously, and with proper knowledge, these meds can certainly become excellent tools in the toolbox.

It’s unfortunate that mass marketing distribution strategies attract many folks who lack the proper expectations and support to make a meaningful and lasting difference in their health.
