I saw this while browsing around for cream cheese recipes…thought I would share it.
Girl, 3, finally speaks thanks to a cream cheese-heavy diet
just 25 cases in all the UK! w0w! LoVe cream cheese. Passing tip…the 1/3 less fat variety has less carbs
I can’t find the post now, but apparently isn’t true everywhere. I thought there was a post with pictures on here from Australia where the lower fat cream cheese was higher in carbs. And someone said it was the same in the UK.
Wish we could narrow searches easier. But I will figure it out and link back.
The picture specifically showed Philadelphia brand in the tubs from other countries and the full fat was lower in carbs everywhere reported except on the US labels.
But I have still not been able to find the post. Maybe someone on that thread will see this and share it.
There are people with this disorder that are stuck on waiting lists for this treatment?..and why is she eating toast and crackers?
Both those things struck me. Why do you have to go on a waiting list. It’s like a half-page of instructions.
I’m in Japan and for lunch, just ate some Philadelphia brand plain full fat. Per 100 grams on the Jpnz label, the carbs are 2.8gr. Total 323 cal, 31.1g fat, 336mg sodium, 76mg calcium.
I also had yakitori, yum! Feeling so satisfied. (^O^)
I looked for a while, but no luck. I wonder if it was on the FB page and not here. Ummm…Going to check.
Yes, it’s on FB. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10211791228486878&set=gm.1734767200173686&type=3
Picture is not of Philadelphia brand, but there is a comment from Daisy (3-4 down) that says in UK Full Fat Philadelphia has fewer grams carbs than low fat.
So it seems that there is some variety between countries. Honestly, outside of the US fewer chemicals and additives are permissible so that might be part of the reason.
Here the partial fat Philadelphia cream cheese has less carbs per serving, when we add it to a recipe we just add extra fat…
I’m an Aussie and can confirm that the Philly low fat is higher in carbs than the original recipe sold here. Just proves that we always need to read the labels on food; branding on its own is not reliable.
I’m in the UK, and have some “original” Philly (full fat) in front of me, and it’s
4.0 g per 100g carbs.
21.5g fat
5.5g protein
(includes a stabiliser …“locust bean gum” … hmm )
Edit: hmm… also bought some Waitrose own-brand soft cheese today, and that only has 2.5g carbs (and apparently no locust bean gum). Think I’ll be buying that one in future.
(oh, and nearly 4g more fat too).
(and it’s cheaper…)
