Getting back into ketosis after being kicked out

(Olivier) #1

Hi everyone
I moved to a new country for a new job and of course during a month I was not able to check my meals or other data.
First blood test I was out of ketosis with a nice red “0” on my tester. Well new job, new colleagues, lots of welcome cakes…
For a week and a half I try to get back to what I normally eat and stay below 20g of carbs
But my blood test shows max 0.7 and most of the time below 0.5 - 0.2.
I also try fasting but not as good as before because I wake up earlier and come back home later than with my previous job (I was working remotely from home, so was pretty easy to fast and eat as planned)
Is it longer or more difficult to be back in ketosis after you already was for 2-3 months?
Are these blood test measures relevant as I read here that some long time keto scientists have very low measures in blood tests.
Thanks for your help😉

I found my levels (urine) consistently low when I told myself I should be comfortably in ketosis, then I went straight carnivore for a week and saw purple, so clearly my body could and did ramp up ketone levels with a change.

I don’t know if it actually matters, but if you want to know and don’t want to fast, maybe a meat week?

Those are not bad values. When I was testing, I got down to near zero in the mornings, higher in the evenings. Blood sugar was the opposite: higher in the morning, lower in the evening.

Thanks for your feedback. I eat meat every week, beef, veal, pork…

Yes same for me, high glucose in the morning even after fasting 16h et low around 1 or 2 pm

But what else are you eating. Ketones are produced in the absence of carbs. I’m suggesting meat Only for a week, not just more meat. I’m betting that gives you a higher level, although as others have said, it’s probably not something you need to chase.

Less than 19g of fat, average 10g (I never fancied veggies…) mostly meat and cream.
