Getting back at it

I know this is posted ALL the time. But it is just something I need to do for me. A big part of what kept me on strict keto was coming here and posting and reading others posts and just being a part of it all. And well if you look at my post history you’ll see a huge gap in my activity. SO this is me getting back to it!

Now I started keto back in July 2017, I was hardcore on the keto train until October. At that time myself and much of my family were all thrown for a loop in the October wildfires here in Nor-Cal, I stayed keto through them easily, but then we got to the holidays and after everything that happened with family members losing homes and such, it just didn’t seem important, so I slipped a little. Thanksgiving wasn’t keto, Christmas wasn’t keto, new years wasn’t keto, a local fair weekend in February wasn’t keto, my daughter’s first birthday wasn’t keto. Now don’t get me wrong, I was keto probably 90% of all that time, but it would always be like hard keto for 4 weeks, then some event pops up and I would go off for a few days. So I never got fully back to my full keto self. I was just “coasting”, or “lazy-keto” it was enough to keep me from gaining the weight I already lost back, which was enough of a win for me at the time to keep coasting. But the scale has inched up, just an inch, but enough. 5 of the 50 pounds seems to be back on the scale and I am cutting that off now. I also am just ready to stop this coasting BS and get back to focusing on getting healthy again.

I went camping this weekend and had a little “keto-binge” and used it to cut coffee from my routine. So now I am back to tracking everything I eat, and working in a strict IF. I tried to IF before, but needed my coffee every morning, and couldn’t take it black so always have BPC.

I have been back on strict keto for the last 2 months which is the longest stretch without slipping into some carbage meals since my first slip back in October. I am finally starting to feel back into that really good fat adapted keto place. I have an out of state wedding to attend at the end of the month, that will be a tough hurdle but I am feeling the motivation more than ever.

Thanks for taking the time to read my own rant at myself. Time to get back on it and KCKO

Welcome back! Don’t forget that this is a way of life, not a short-term diet. Just keep ketoing on. And thanks for sharing your story—if I don’t get regular reminders of what can happen, that could easily be me, too. And if I start eating carbs again, I might never get back to keto. So thanks, dude!

It’s really good to hear from you again. There are others I miss who haven’t posted in quite some time, and I always worry a bit. It’s good to know that you are okay. :bacon:

Glad you are back at it. I fell off keto for since February. Had troubles breaking from the carbs. I am back on by starting a fast to get back in control. Completed 92 hour fast and then back into ketogenic diet.

Thank you for the post, it is quite encouraging for me. I was keto the whole of last year and managed to lose almost 12kgs, however, I have slipped back and gained 4kgs over the holidays and I am finding it hard to get back. Today is my first day of getting back and I am really praying that I will be disciplined as before. My goal is to lose another 12 kgs to get to my goal weight. Just like you, I find that reading this forum and watching keto videos and vlogs very helpful.
