Get back into Ketosis ASAP

Summary- last week vacation, cheat week-ate all the no-no foods. (Have been keto for about 5 months & no cheat meals/days) Flew home all day saturday, so i used that day as a fasting day that carried into Sunday. Finished a 44 hour fast yesterday. Broke fast with eggs, butter, cheese (OMAD). Tested ketones this morning- 0.4. Starting an egg fast to get back into ketosis today, will do for at least 3 days, maybe longer depending how i feel.
My question is- Should i try fasting to get into ketosis quicker, or should i work out & eat (egg fast) to get into it quicker? I know both ways will get me there eventually, but i’d like to be back ASAP. I’m also assuming I’m fat adapted (or at least i was before cheat week)

What are your goals?

Weight loss

I’ve always found fasting to be a good reset after a holiday. I’ve never compared with eating high fat or eggs, though.

Thats really the reason i wanted to do a long fast Saturday/Sunday kinda like a reset. And due to my very low hunger levels during that long of a fast, i believe I’m still fat adapted, but just not in ketosis.

Weight loss! Then I would recommend taking some l-carnite, green tea extract, and go on a run or “walk” for a mile upon waking up while being fasted. Fasting is your fastest way to get in ketosis, not eating a bunch of fat as the bulk of your diet suddenly. Big mistake I made when I started lol I was so mis-informed.

You’ll be on your weight to burning fat! Make sure you acknowledge your goals. Your chasing weight loss, not ketones. Having more ketones in your blood does not mean your losing more fat, it just means there are More substrates in your blood given the situation your in. Somone reading 0.4 could hypothetically lose more weight than someone in 1.0 mmol/l it just depends on what your eating (amount of carbs), how often, and how much physical expenditure your outputting

So you think your not in ketosis? Then what are you burning? Your muscle? See my post below so I can elaborate.

Well, for me, I’m rarely above 0.4 mmol/L in the mornings (blood), so that’s not a bad result. In fact, my last fast of 4.5 days, I only hit 1.9 on the last day.

And I think chasing ketones, unless you have cancer or some other syndrome where ketones might be beneficial, is not a great plan. If you want high ketones, gobble a bunch of extra fat. That’ll get your ketones high, but won’t really get fat loss started.

As far as i understand, you can still be fat adapted without being in ketosis correct?

I guess i use ketone readings to make sure i maintain ketosis (until my cheat week) and ketosis usually results in weight loss, so thats why i’m looking to get into ketosis quicker

After starting my egg fast yesterday, tested my ketones this morning & got 0.3

Still on the egg fast & got .02 this morning

Going to try to exercise today to see if that helps get me back in

Update- No gym time yesterday, but was at .04 this morning. I’m hoping to hit at least .05 tomorrow morning. Going to try cycling on lunch to burn up any glycogen :+1:t3:
