Gaining Weight - possibilities?

Been on Keto for over a year, not doing anything different except taking melatonin and a little bit of cannabis for sleep issues. Is this in any way triggering weight gain? Anyone with first hand experience with these?

There have been links between melatonin and weight gain, worth a look on google. It is a hormone after all, and artificially messing with any one of those is potentially going to cause problems.

I doubt the melatonin is a problem unless you are using it daily at a high dose. Cannabis maybe if you are using enough to frequently get the munchies. But having sleep issues suggests an underlying problem(s) such as elevated stress hormones, poor circadian rhythm signaling, etc. which can have myriad bad impacts on mood, energy, appetite, metabolic rate and other factors which impede weight loss. If you can fix your sleep in other ways such as blackout curtains and sound deadening, stress reduction or stress management/meditation, dim red evening lighting, no tv/computer/phone for a couple hours before bed, adjusting meal timing, exercise, hot bath or long hot shower before bed, etc. you might get better results.

I’ve been on this program for 5 months and have gained 3 lbs!
I’m 5’6" 143 lbs and have had valuable symptom reduction but my opinion is that this program appears to have the most radical success for people who are obese or have diabetes or other medical complications as a result of the SAD. (standard American Diet)

Although the “calories don’t count” is not supported with this program - I have found that I have difficulty regulating my food because ketoses doesn’t give me feedback on satiety and because I love the food too much! For that reason I am going to join the fast listed April 19th.

I agree with Todd. Marijuana may be causing other issues –
The discipline of getting to sleep early, reducing anything technological before bed and reducing stress as he stated is so important! It’s better is we can do that rather than relying on a substance to do it. Good Luck
