My friend and I had a thought. The nutritionist is very nice, very accommodating in many ways (was willing to stay late to meet with them last week). We are wondering if it would be possible to “turn” this nutritionist?!
I would have said no a week ago but then I started reading Taubes’ newest book, The Case for Keto. I have only read the first few chapters but so far it is less about Keto and more about how “people that gain weight easily are not simply lean people who have eaten too much” I paraphrase but that is the gist. It is readily available at my local library so I will suggest to my friend she read the first few chapters.
What other options are there to really get the point to this person (the comment made by @PaulL the other day about someone’e livelihood preventing them from seeing the truth notwithstanding).
I am quite familiar with most of the usual. And I will watch the Georgia Eades video although I tried last week and it did not capture me.
I am looking for relatively short articles. Sure the big fat surprise is wonderful but it is some 500 pages. She will be asking a busy professional with a busy practice to read or watch something. I would like something that really makes her think and cannot be ignored. Fung has a lot but it would take over a week to read everything he has written. She would love a very specific article that you gave a doctor or family member that turned them around
If anyone has ever written a letter to their MD or nutritionist that would be great too.
Although I think the problem is that this person is concerned about the frequency of eating of a teenager and does not really care about the quality. My friend is less worried about her child’s eating frequency and more about the quality
Update: The kid has been eating very much a SAD and eating plenty. She picked her up from school the other day and the kid had a 20oz Coke regular that she drank at least half of. There were other options at the store the kid went to by school and she carries a water bottle to school. The other night after a regular dinner the kid made herself chocolate milk at 10PM. My friend just sighed and said nothing but she thinks it is the wrong direction
