Fresh eggs

We are now the proud owners of 10 baby chicks!!! I can’t wait to start eating my own “home grown” free ranged chicken eggs!!!

Congratulations! Chickens are the best! They will imprint on you to some extent, probably, and come running to you when they hear you (when they are older, I mean). The eggs are so yummy! We have had chickens for ten years now – 20-something at the moment and this winter we still had to buy eggs twice. Even the best cage-free, free-range, organic etc. eggs don’t taste as good as our own chickens. Have fun!

Thanks! I’m so excited!!!

Be warned - it’s addictive! I started off with four chickens, gradually worked my way up to 100+ and have now weaned myself down to about 25. It’s just so much fun popping those eggs into an incubator and seeing those fluffy little chicks pop out at the end of three weeks. Good job I like eggs so much!!

Awww, that’s so cute! I used to work with a woman who had chickens and she would bring in eggs to share. I miss her.

And she brought in a magazine that had directions on how to knit sweaters for your chickens!

OMG! I had to google that…and yes, it is a thing!
