Hi since starting keto initially for weight loss and then for better health. I have noticed one side effect. Which is really cold and white fingers is this normal and anyone know why this happens. Cheers Andy.
Freezing fingers
Sounds and looks like Raynaud’s. I don’t see how it would be related to a change in diet.
Thanks I will look that up. Never had it before starting keto so thought it was related.
It could be.
Probably not.
Keep us in the loop.
There are easy ways to avoid the white fingers.
Do tell. I’ve had Raynaud’s almost all of my life. I don’t know any way to avoid an episode.
Tell us the way. I have lost 62 lbs on LCHF (also keto) for T2DM, but I developed Raynoud’s symptoms which I had not had in my first 74 years (T2DM for 6 years now, weight lost in first 6 months after diagnosis; Raynoud’s symptoms for 3 years).
So, tell us the way…
Hi, I just started the Keto diet 4 days ago. I have been going pretty strict and bought the keto test strips and I have started to go into ketosis. This morning it was cold outside and I walked a good distance in to work. When I arrived one finger was completely white on the end. I have never had Raynaud’s so this is a definite cause/effect. I don’t know how long it will last but I have also had shakiness and weakness in my legs. I have read about the “keto flu” and just assume this is also related. My doctor okay’d me to start this diet since I have NASH (fatty liver disease). I am not diabetic but have a family history so that was another motivator. I am trying to lose 30 lb. and have so far lost 4 lb. in the 4 days I have been on the keto diet. I would love to hear if you have continued to have Raynaud’s. Thanks!
Hi sabrina
Nothing has changed for me. For the last 6 months I’ve Been doing a carnivore diet and still have the same problem with my fingers. I feel it’s a small price to pay considering how good I feel doing keto/carnivore so I just put up with it now. Good luck on your journey to better health.
Andy.
