Forum issues with Edge browser

#1

This is undoubtedly the wrong place to put this but I can’t find a suitable place. So admins, please feel free to move it accordingly.

This is the issue - Wherever I am in the forum, when I hit the browser back button, it ALWAYS takes me out of the forum, to the last site I was at. The browser back button, never knows I have visited this forum. It doesn’t happen with ANY other site.

I’m using Microsoft Edge with Win 10.

Can anyone help please?

Just tested it with Edge, and yep, does it for me too.

Damn, now I’ve used Edge…

Hey Mic.

It hasn’t always done it. I first noticed it about 2 weeks ago.

#4

I see this topic has been moved to ‘Site Feedback’. Thanks Admins.

There’s your problem, lol.
I use chrome, no issues!

(Running from stupidity) #6

Hey I avoided saying that, you should have too! #cheapshot #alsoFireFoxFTW

#7

Heck, I’d use Internet Explorer 11, before using Edge.

(Running from stupidity) #8

Well, most big businesses seem to still use IE6…

#9

LOL,

I understand all the ‘cheap shots’. However, they don’t help me any. Like I said, it was fine up till a couple of weeks ago or so.

Like any browser issue, start with clearing all browsing data, it’s most likely just something stupid. Discourse runs as a web app which I’ve had issues with myself. If that doesn’t work go into your updates and check update history, see if you got an update to it then, if so remove it and see if it works again.

This appears to be a known issue with MS Edge, something Microsoft, and not Discourse, must fix. Unless the dudes have written custom JS. Then I entirely wash my hands of the matter.

Though you didn’t ask, here’s another vote for Firefox.

Since I never use Edge, I figured I’d reset it for that fresh default feeling. Turns out I have a hosed install of Edge and the repair process is rather lengthy. I had to test on a VM with a virginal Edge, which confirmed the issue.

Good thing I don’t use Edge.

It could be windows was just upgraded to version 1809. That’s usually when updates to the Edge browser are also implemented. You wouldn’t have noticed the change until after the update was installed.

Like @Screenack said, it’s a known issue that will have to be fixed.

They don’t make’em like they used to! :cowboy_hat_face:

(Running from stupidity) #15

Yeah, it’s SUCH a shame

#16

The good ol’ days!

#17

Looks like I’m knackered then :rage:
Maybe I’ll start using Chrome :anguished:

Thanks for the help guys.

Here’s your motivational poster, suitable for framing. Near a water cooler preferable.
