Forgive my pet peeve

#42

I have several friends who say “had went” i.e. “I had went to that store before”. It is like fingernails on the chalkboard😖!
But I never say a word for just the reason you mentioned @keto4me!
Ok, that’s the last one. Promise.

:rofl:LOVE IT!

(Candy Lind) #44

Quite a restrained individual, if you ask me. I hope this can of worms you opened is low-carb! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(Candy Lind) #45

Who CAN, with auto-mangle second-guessing you all the time? :confounded:

#46

Except it’s should be its :kissing_heart:

#47

Word nerd here also, full of shame about obvious typos/auto corrects in posts I’ve made. My peeve is I vs. me.
My pal and I invited Auntie Mabel to dinner. She cooked dinner for my pal and me.

What? How did we get here?

(Sophie) #50

My new favorite is assholery, and I’ve been able to use it often!

(Candy Lind) #51

Tell HIM!

(Sophie) #53

Thanks, but I like mine better…

Her: So, what was wrong with him?!
Me: Oh, it was just his typical assholery self.

#54

Somehow it worked better to respond to your response to him @Capnbob, sort of like “I love it too except…” I did carefully consider both response options lol

(GINA ) #55

Do you watch Game of Thrones?

(Shayne) #56

I don’t, but it is EXACTLY like that for me!!!

#57

Not a jerk. :two_hearts:

#58

Please define. Is that a colloquialism?

(Catherine ) #59

I don’t think you necessarily made an error. i agreed with your point of view (maybe we are of the same era). Dictionaries come and go according to the usage of the masses. I can now understand my grand-parents confusion when I was young. I have my peeves too but i guess we just move with the times…goodness knows what spelling and grammar will look like 100 years from now :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you! I cringe every time my friend talks about a regime of testing.
