Foods high in BAD cholesterol

#1

Which foods should be avoided, besides the obvious none KETO foods?

(Michael ) #2

As far as I’m aware eating cholesterol doesn t raise cholesterol so unless they have trans fat…none of them.

(Consensus is Politics) #3

I believe that is correct. Eating cholesterol doesn’t raise it. Although, I think eating those same fats that contain it while also eating a high carb diet are gonna be a big problem. The carbs trigger insulin. Insulin prevents fat burning, and helps store the fat you just ate.

I’m pretty sure you want to avoid vegetable oil.
[can anyone explain why]?

(Michael ) #5

Industrial seed and veg oils are super high in omega 6. Omega six is necessary but inflammatory. The same cellular receptors are used for omega 3 and 6. Too much 6 will overwhelm 3 and can cause inflammation and health issues. Western diet gives about 20:1 on average. Most recommendations are 2 or 3 omega 3 to 1 omega 6, 20:1 in the other direction aint good

But I be an electrician, not a doctor or scientist so your own research is recommended

Just want to know the best foods ready for my next blood test. I just know its gonna be bad lol, or at least my doc will say its bad!

I’ve been eating 4 tablespoons of Chia a day and 1/2 avocado etc Trying to push my Omega 3 up

If you’re eating keto, hopefully it will be better. Ldl and triglycerides could be elevated and scare your doctor. Depends on genetics and where you’re at with your diet. If ldls are elevated, I would research statins before you let your doctor give them to you

Best source of omega 3 is salmon or cod liver oil supplement. Not sure it would make a difference in your blood levels in a short period, but definitely a vital dietary component the body doesn’t produce

Flax seed is a good vegetarian alternative

Keep your carbs under20 grams a day, keep your protein moderate, and keep your fat intake high.

It’s really the sugars screwing up the works for the tests. Mostly because of insulin in my opinion. Not a doctor, just a techno geek. I’m not afraid of the science. Show it all to me. If I can’t figure it out, I’ll look it up.:cowboy_hat_face:

If you want to game your blood test you can use the @DaveKeto method of eating extremely high calories of fat for 3 days before your test, which will paradoxically lower your LDL.

#11

Thank you! I’ll chow on just butter 3 days before lol

#12

I do, and rarely go above 10g.

My blood pressure has gone up slowly over 6 months, and trying to get that back down. I’m very happy with my weight loss since June, and feel better than ever in my life. If the Doc starts throwing pills around I won’t take them anyway!

(Michael ) #13

I don’t see the point in trying to throw off the results. I don’t give a crap what my doctor says. I do my own research and tell the doctor if i want to be medicated. I do want to know the real levels though so i can at least understand and rationalize the decisions I make. You guys are approaching a lipid panel like a drug test

Shocking !
Pun intended.

(Michael ) #15

Yeah, but those MacDonald fries sure are tasty. Funny enough, people would be healthier if they still fried with lard. Damn government demonizing fat in the 70s messed up the whole 1st world

(Crow T. Robot) #16

It wasn’t the government that forced the fast food places to stop using animal fats for frying, it was the so-called Center for Science in the Public Interest. Bunch of idiots.

#17

Lol

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #18

So much for “science” . . . and so much for the “public interest” . . . :frowning:

(VLC.MD) #19

Great point. Someone should research how that decision was made.

If you ever need to get new insurance, life disability or otherwise, these tests can be used against you

Assuming you have all the insurance you will ever need, then I agree, get the real levels
