Food factory next to my work

My work is nextdoor to this place -

https://www.goshfood.com

They’ve got three flags outside now. One says “plants never tasted so good” and the other two boasting about how their foods are “naturally free from”. One of the guys in the office didn’t get it so shouted out to ask “free from what?” and someone shouted back “taste” :joy:

I can’t help but have thoughts of somehow climbing up to add a tag line to the flags that says “so is steak” but not sure it would go down well :joy:

Looking at their website, all the food they choose to display all looks to be mimicking meat. Hot dogs, sausages, burgers, meatballs. I never understood that. “I don’t want to eat any meat ever again…quick, go out and get me some meat mimicking substitutes!” You don’t see those eating carnivore go out and find meat thats shaped like vegetables.

@Sheri_Knauer It’s pretty simple really, most vegetarians ate meat in the past and while they may have given it up for moral, religious lor misguided health reasons they still might miss it.

The traditional of mock meats goes back to Buddhist monks in China. I think that it has to do with making vegetarianism appealing to meat eaters.

If we are not allowed to call almond milk ‘milk’, vegans should not be allowed to call veggie mush bugers or sausages.

Meat is so complex (and good) that I think even the companies trying to produce bio-identical meats will fail.

Probably how they came up with the name of their company…people kept asking, “gosh, is that really supposed to be food?” so they just shortened it.

They’ve just rebranded, it was Great Foods until last week. Not sure that was accurate either :joy:
