“Five signs your carbohydrate intake may be too low”...Whhhaaaa?

Following a low-carb diet can have various negative side effects

What a laugh this article is. How does this kind of this get through quality control? Clearly this dietician, Susie Burrell, has vested interests in CICO and traditional dieting thanks to her online subscription programmes and back catalogue of diet books for sale.

Any Aussies have a view? she’s from your neck of the woods

Thanks for posting this: you’ve just made me laugh! Clearly bias dietician who is misinformed. Mind you she did get the keto breath correct: how many years training did she go through? What a waste of a minute reading her article

Since she claims I can’t metabolize fat on the low level of carbs I’m consuming, I guess the 180 pounds I’ve lost so far was all water?

Let’s see… Re:#1: Then why do low carb diets pretty much always beat low fat diets in RCTs?

#2 and #3 are induction symptoms that can be alleviated with increased salt intake.

#4 is a bit of fun nonsense. You will have smaller poops on higher protein with less vegetable matter because you are eating food that is more efficiently absorbed. As a result, lower stool volume. Can you imagine the stool volume if they put people on that 63 serving of veg a day simian diet?

#5 acetone breath means you’re doing it right. And it’s easily mitigated.

Sugar cravings
When your body is craving something in particular, this could indicate that you have a deficiency.”

Um, o.k., so by that logic then, a smoker trying to quit should go ahead and inhale some nicotine because the body is craving it and must be deficient. A heroin addict should go ahead and shoot up because the body craving is saying he/she has a heroin deficiency. I guess an alcoholic should go ahead a pour themselves a shot, too.

Here’s another sign your carb intake is too low: Your bottle of statins are getting dusty because you don’t have to freakin take them anymore…

The one comment there so far could have been written by most anyone here. Recommend reading it.Hope more people make similar comments. Once enough start doing so then maybe the mainstream press will feel compelled to start asking the proper questions of their “experts”

*I’d comment but have zero interest whatsoever in registering for yet another website/organization

I replied, said the first commenter had it right and told them to pull their carb-laden heads out of the sand. :smiling_imp:

“If you are consuming less than 80g of total carbs each day but doing a lot of exercise, your carbs will be too low to actually metabolise body fat and your metabolic rate will slow down over time,” Burrell explained.

And considering that sugar cravings often diminish for people on keto, she’s shot herself in the foot with that one!!
