Five month in newbie question

(ANNE ) #1

I have been doing Keto for five months now.
Starting weight 76kg, aiming for 58kg I am 5’6” tall 49yr old female.
Weight stalled at Easter to 68kg, so I added in 3 days of OMAD per week. Weight dropped down to 65.5 over a month, but now I have stalled again.
I am trying to wrap my head around readjusting my metabolism.
Should I go to a couple of weeks of two-three meals a day, then back to OMAD three times a week.
OR
Should I increase the OMAD frequency instead.
I have consistently been in ketosis, both by pee stick checking and occasional blood testing show 0.9- 4.5 mmols. Blood sugars are the best I have had in a while 4.7-5.7mmols.
I keep my protein in check at less than 60 g a day. Carbs around 20g. Fat until I am full up.

I feel totally well, BP 130/75. I know shifting the last 5 kg is always the hardest.
Any tips or guidance gratefully received.

The bit of advice to shake things up and not let your metabolism get used to only a certain amount of food could benefit you here.

If you do OMAD, make sure it’s a big meal. Or split it up over a few hours like 20:4.
I’ll also throw in a random 16:8.

The biggest weight loss tip though is to manage your stress and sleep/recovery.

Random off topic question here:
How long do you have to do Keto before you graduate from the newbie label?

Lol I thought this too! I’m only 4 or so months in but I feel like Ive been KETO my whole life and living on this forum and tearing through podcasts Im still learning new stuff everyday. So Im OK being a newbie forever if it means I keep learning new stuff!

Im happy to call myself a newbie forever. I learn something different every day! I try not to give out a lot of advice, even though I understand it, I prefer my knowledge to be validated by a more knowledgeable person here, to which there are many. I’m not diabetic so I have trouble wrapping my head around a lot of their issues or their test results and stuff.
