Fitbit and CarbManager

(Heather~KWOL for life!) #1

I use carb manager and had seen that you can use it with Fitbit. I wondered if anyone has done this and their thoughts on if it is worth the nominal fee? I have a Fitbit Alta HR. Thanks!

I had my Fitbit (Charge 2) connected to Cronometer, and very quickly disconnected it again. I’d forgotten how insanely optimistic it is when assigning calorie burn rates. If I walk to the shop it seems to assume I’ve sprinted there Usain Bolt style and given me about 1000 calories more expended than actually happened.

I’m yet to find one of these things (and I’ve used a few) that seem to do anything but flatter and misled the wearer.

Your fitbit was incorrect? I do not pay attention to calories, I only monitor steps, heart rate, and sleep. I did measure my steps though when I set it up to make sure it was close to accurate. But if I am talking, which I am an animated talker and use my hands and arms… then it picks those up as steps :joy: :joy:

I use the exact same combination. I pay very little attention to the calories in FitBit. I use steps only as a frame of reference. If I am short of, say, 10,000 steps, I take a walk until I hit the number. In any case, I have read that calories as recorded by all these fitness tracker are notoriously inaccurate, so use that information with a big grain of salt.

Cronometer on the other hand is excellent. It provides nutrient information which I find very useful. I track food in it and find it very useful.

If I were to connect CarbManager to the Fitbit, then would I be able to use just the fitbit app to do all the recording of my macros without having to go on to CM? OR, does it just mean that CM will pick up everything that Fitbit tracks and sync it to the CM daily logs?

Same. The calories expended is pure flattery IMHO.

Same, it’s a compulsion and I wish I could break myself of it properly.

Yeah, it’s great.

Yeah, good question. I see FB has macros, but I’ve not used it for that. I kinda live in Cronometer somewhat…
