First extended fast, need help

I’m in almost 52 hours now and had a mild migraine. I completely forgot about pickle juice. I had a cup maybe of powerade zero. It has sucralose. I’m curious, I don’t have a meter to test. Want one so recommendations would be awesome. But I’m here becuse I’m wondering if I broke my fast with a cup of powerade zero. I really want to keep this fast going. It was planned as a 24 hour fast but, I wasn’t hungry so I kept on truckin. I’m still not hungry. I feel ok. I get migraines, have since my teens. I don’t think it is due to the fast.

I started 8 hours after you! Going for my first 5-day. I don’t get headaches so not much help there. KetoMojo has a ketone and BG meter in one. It was recommended by a metabolic doc. Just ordered mine. I don’t know the make up of Powerade. Would expect it’s non-caloric tho, right? So, it’s not breaking your fast but could cause an insulin spike if you are sensitive to it. Did you do the Dudes podcast on sweeteners? You can test to see which you can handle and which you can’t. I haven’t done the experiment yet but I guess as is the climate out here, everyone is different! As far as the fast tho, I’d say keep going! My new plan is to fast as much as possible around life. Salt changed everything for me on my second 72-hour fast. I felt fine on the first without salt but super-hero status on the second with added salt! I’m 44 hours in and rocking’ it! KCFO!!

I don’t know what the dudes podcast is. I’m new to all of this. I don’t even know how to get back on this forum if I close the page. Lmbo! I’m grateful for your help! Thank you so much. I will look into that meter next. I decided to keep going with the fast. I woke this morning a little freaked out. First cuz, I’m still not hungry. I thought to myself… “wtf? Is this normal” then I wondered how long this would go and why I haven’t had a hard time. I can’t remeber if I mentioned I’m fairly new to keto. I know I am fat adapted cuz I naturally started omad and felt great. Cravings are gone for the most part. Although, my head does try to play games with me. It’s the old habits that are hard to get out of mind. So, hubby thought this can’t be healthy and tried to feed me. My eggs and ham are still sitting beside me on the bed. :rofl::rofl: I have no desire to eat them.

This is so weird and exciting. Things I have noticed with this being my first fast, I’ve not lost any weight or inches yet. I’m not craving or hungry. No loud rumblings in my tummy yet. My achy joints are back (keto had got rid of those). The rash or eczema on my hands is not improving (I really hoped it would). I don’t have an abundance of energy or mental clarity, yet.

I really need a meter to see how I’m doing. I also need to research a lot more. I kinda just started keto and ran with it. Surprised I’m doing this well with very minimal research. Another thing I would like to learn is how to properly set my macros and calories. For now I rely on admins to a keto grouo I am in. They have my use the navy calculator for BMI and when I submit my results they give me macros but not calories. Idk if that is how I’m suppose to do it or if there is another way. I need to learn.

I think the calculators are BS as they don’t know you and what’s going on inside. Some folks here track EVERYTHING but I think really just your carb count is important for now. I’m looking at calories a little bit cuz I don’t think I’m having enough with all the IF I do. Don’t restrict calories like we’ve always been told! Stick to the basics. 2ketodudes.com has all their podcasts. They are so fun and educated, the format is great with a topic per episode, interviews, funny hacks they try on themselves, etc. Really here to help people! I believe “Sweeteners” was Episode 7. Also learned a TON from the Obesity Code Podcasts hosted by Carl(1ketodude). They are phenomenal and have real patients on with their amazing stories. These are on YouTube along with the Dudes’ podcasts. Hope this helps. I’m 69 hours in now and have done awesome except little headache tonight(after I told you I don’t get them, haha) but it’s almost time for bed so I hope to “rest” it off. Oh, and for the record, I’m 12 weeks keto and don’t think I’m fat adapted. Just tired of messing around so I jumped into an extended fast. KCKO/KCFO

When you find the podcast you should really start with episode one. One of the dudes (Carl) is very new to Keto right at the beginning so they both talk a lot about getting started. It really helped me a TON when I got started. One of the early episodes is called “The newbies show” that’s a really good first ep as well. Good luck!

Thank you!! You’re more informed than I am and yet been on keto for less. You are awesome!!! Thank you again for the help! Are you in any of the keto groups on fb? I’m in clean keto only. It’s not swamped with people. They keep the drama out. They control what gets posted. It’s slow but helpful also.

Oh, no, sorry if I gave the impression that I’m new. 12 weeks in to committing to this way of life forever and whatever it takes to lose my weight but I’m a seasoned low-carber and have spent the last several months studying. I’m in a keto recipe FB group which is really great and an IF group I’m not too crazy about. They’re not promoting keto, only IF and eat whatever you want otherwise. Not thrilled with it. The Dudes are amazing! You know how you’re almost jealous when someone you like hasn’t seen the greatest show or movie you have and they get to start from the beginning? That’s how I feel referring you! Enjoy!
