First Carb Load Since Starting

Decided to carb load this morning via maple syrup in my #Keto Pink Drink. Uggh!! Felt sick to my stomach & got a headache. Next time, I decide to carb load for a day, it’s gonna be via #ketofriendly foods.

Question: I heard that if you carb load (go over 50 carbs is my meaning) at least once a month, it’ll help you lose more weight. Is this true? #newbieneedinghelp

There’s never any need to do it.

Okay, thank you! I was just wondering, because despite the fact that I’ve been eating under 30 carbs a day, I’m not losing much.

Are you counting net or total carbs? I strive to stay below 20 total carbs.

you need to memorize a phrase “Keep calm, and Keto on” - sometimes your body needs to heal before letting go of more weight. If you are somewhere near week 6 - most people hit a stall in weight loss which is completely normal. Remember this is a lifestyle not a weight loss “diet” - Try measuring how you feel - if your clothes feel looser or any other non scale victories – are you sleeping better?

Again! Keep calm, and keto on!

I’m counting net carbs. And, most days, I’m below 20. I’m not a tracker, but pretty much know what I eat. I am gonna start tracking again tomorrow morning though.

I’m near week five, so this is good to know. Thank you! Overall, I have a huge NSV, of better health. Honestly, I still struggle, mentally, with if don’t lose it all, & I start gaining, I’m gonna gain it all back again.

I am in ketosis most of the time and have been for twenty years. When I eat a normal meal with carbohydrates because I am at a social setting and the meal is wondeful, let’s say dinner at the White House, my weight goes up three pounds, mainly from water absorption. It takes me three days in the diet to lose the three pounds. I only eat very expensive carbohydrates that I did not pay for.

It actually sets me back as well it takes me 3 days atleast to get the water weight back off .

I cannot beat this drum, enough. Keep to a max of 20 total carbs. This is the guidance of the top doctors in LCHF, including Dr. Westman.

The more I read about stalls, the more I suspect that “net” carbs are the truck full of glass on an icy road.

Thank you!

Once you get your head around that this is a lifestyle – you’ll be set. It can take awhile. I know I went through a few phases for several months in the beginning including freaking out about eating so much fat – Now, I always say. “People come to KETO for the weight loss but they stay for how they feel!” - Personally I have never felt better - I feel completely in control of my relationship with food for the first time ever and feel normal. It’s really freeing. I have been Keto since Dec 26 - 2017 – and will not look back. I’ve lost over 56 lbs and have some more I’d like to lose. But for the first time ever - I’m confident that I will get to where I want to be and am so much healthier than ever. So, keep calm and keto on my friend!
