I was on another forum where everyone was an “expert” and contradicted all the other experts. I just read the “10 things I wish I knew” and “there is not rulebook”. This has made me much more comfortable and likely to come back to this forum.
From experience, I know my body responds to low card. Fifteen years ago I lost 100# on Atkins. It worked but I had two problems. Since I could eat as much volume as I wanted, I did. Yes, I lost 100 in about 10 months but I got used to gorging myself. I kept the 100 off for about five yrs, then it all came back when I ate “normal” (carbs, etc) and I continued to gorge.
There were a couple lesser losses that were short lived but in the end, I was back at 325 which seems to be my plateau along with weight related aching back and other health problems. I won’t go into the constipation and other back door issues that arose from Atkins as I’m sure no one want to hear that.
Five weeks ago, I was at 325 “found” the keto approach. I got past the keto, low carb headache for a few days an things are working. Today, I’m at 305 and find the increased fat consumption satisfies me and I don’t want to gorge all the time. The extra fat (pardon the pun) “greases the chute” so constipation isn’t a problem.
I’ve found some very good and sensible advice here, I’ll be back often but not for a couple days as I’m fasting and don’t want to read about any food.
There is an absolute ton of stuff to learn (if one wants to), but you sure look like you’re on a good path already.
