I can’t seem to get enough fiber in. Seems weird since I eat vegetables and avocado but I can’t get more than 10-15 grams a day
Fiber
I usually put some seeds into my salad (both for taste and fibre). Things like pumpkin seeds, psyllium (very high on fibre I think) and chia seeds. Does add a nice texture and taste to it together with apple cider vineger and some olive oil!
I’m stil abit unsure about the fibre effect on ketosis so I do not use massive amount so someone might be able to fill that in with more knowlegde than me.
Hope that can give you some ideas
Yeah I’ve never heard about the importance or lack getting enough fiber in a keto diet however I’ve read that it’s nessasary to get 25g of fiber a day, and now that I don’t eat oatmeal or fruit I find it hard to get in my fiber. And I don’t want to eat tons of calories just to get in my fiber. I want this to be easy but I’m constantly thinking about my macros, calories and fiber.
Don’t worry about the fiber. Zero carbers don’t get any plant fiber and do just fine. Many of us try to stay below 20 total carbs, so maybe only get 10 grams or so of fiber.
Those fiber recommendations are also made by those who recommend high carb diets. Eat your green leafy’s and dont sweat fiber too much.
To help in replying, please let me know you opinions in this, in the context of a LCHF keto diet.
Who decides what “enough” fibre is?
What happens to you if you get below that amount?
What happens to you if you eat no fibre at all?
People like @amber have not eaten fibre for 7 years or so. What damage have they thus done to themselves?
My has actually become much more regular since going zero carb! It is kinda crazy compared to what we’ve been told our whole lives!
