Feeling Sluggish or out of energy, after going for a Walk around the block

(JOSUE RAMIREZ) #1

Hello; Today July 12, 2018 I went for a small walk around the block and noticed that I felt sluggish, I felt like if all my energy had been drained out of my body. After a lap that only took 10 mins, my legs and back started to fall in pain. After going for the second lap, I had ran out of energy. Before this I had been going for an hour to hour and a half, with no issues what’s so ever.

I also have been watching my meals very closely using my fitness pal, my sodium and potassium levels are in check. But other than that I can’t find anything else, I started fasting two days out of the week 12-16 hrs only on those days. After that I go back to eating 3-5 times a day, so far I had seen positive results. I also have a health problem with Hypothyroidism, don’t if this could be a trigger to way I am eating and exercising. I am also trying to move from my small Plateau, I was on the right track towards losing weight and all of a sudden I got stuck and feeling bloated once again.

My current percentages are as followed:

Carbohydrates 5%
Protein 20%
fat 75%

I also eating no more than 2508 calories per day, but after going for two months I have noticed that I can barely hit the 1700 calorie mark. This part I don’t know if its normal, I don’t hungry at all till around 2 pm 1400 hrs.

Before starting the Ketogenic Diet, I was falling asleep everywhere I could. Had no energy at all. Not even to do the chores around the house.

After starting the Keto diet I’ve had tons of energy and my mind was crystal clear. I am to complete all my chores, and still have energy to go out and cut grass plus even go out with friends and family.

Hope that this could help you guys know where I am coming from.

First of all, don’t panic. This is actually very common.

When you start Keto, you deplete your body of glycogen. It’s the fuel source your body has been using up now. You begin producing ketones but your body doesn’t know how to efficiently use them yet for fuel. This is the adaptation phase and typically lasts 6-8 weeks for your body to become fully fat adapted. I liken it to having a hole in your gas tank. Your adding fuel with the ketones, but they are just running out at this point. Resist any urge to up carbs to offset as this will just lengthen the process.

You shouldn’t feel like this all the time, it’s a slow ramp up rather than an on/off switch. Keep electrolytes replenished. This helps but won’t offset it completely. It’s best just to take it easy for a few weeks. You can build back up your exercise routine once adapted and you will find you have more endurance then.
