So finally I break Plato loose 5lbs and out of the blue I gained 3lbs. Yes I’m following strict keto, height fat almost no carbs lower than 10grams. Drinking enough fat coffee to keep me going all day. I’m just venting feeling totally discouraged.
Feeling aggravated 😡
I’ve literally put on 3lbs in the last couple hours mathematically from the amount of liquid I’m drinking. Unless you have a real reason to believe you put on 3lbs of FAT, then don’t worry yourself with negligible amounts. Throw your scale in the trash.
Keto is NOT about weight - it’s about body recomposition. Water weight helps in the fat cells’ transformational emptying of fat, as well as clearing out of toxins and and many many internal processes go on that the body prioritizes for your longterm health and survival. Such as healing the liver for the first few months in most adults, along with repairing muscle & bone density loss from years of high-carb/low-fat which is actually a form of nutrient & neurological starvation.
Many females esp have been socialized/limited with self-objectification and viewing the body as valued only related to numbers from the scale, rather than actual health and actual measurements.
For this reason and more, as someone who started keto as a non-obese person and whose progress is mostly subtle, I only use a measuring tape once a month - no scale whatsoever - and am VERY HAPPY about it. Because it’s really entertaining to see the dramatic inches lost and to feel new muscle growth.
If you use the search bar here, there are abundant posts on the topic of recomposition, throwing out the scale, etc.
I have to agree - I’m so much happier when I ignore that 5’-tall gargoyle sitting in my front hall (I have an old weight-balanced doctor’s scale. $10 at a yard sale. No BF% mumbo jumbo for me! LOL).
@SlowBurnMary Mary, that laughing avocado is just so darn CUTE! Where ever did you find her?
Glad you like it @PaulL - I found the laughing keto avocado doing a Google image search for the phrase, and it makes me happy too!
