Fatty Liver and Doing Keto

(Davy) #1

If one has fatty liver, will doing keto for 6 months or maybe longer, eat up the excess fat in the liver?

Good question! I have no answer, but logic suggests that it might work.

If you google NAFLD and keto, I think you will answer your question in the affirmative.

The short answer is Yes. Fasting will help too. Also, you should avoid PUFAs and eat more saturated fat. PUFAs negatively affect the liver and Sat Fat is protective.

Thanks all. Seems to make sense, like Polly said.
Okay. I’ll be back in 6 months to answer this question first hand.

I had a fatty liver at medium level for more than 7 years. And 7 months ago, I started keto diet, and last Sunday I got my results of CT scan, my fatty liver has turned to light level (good), I am quite happy. And my ALT, AST markers have become in normal range too, that means my liver is better than before.
And I have been eating choline supplement every day after starting keto diet.
