I have q regarding fasting. I am 25 pounds away from my goal weight. My plan was to start doing fasting and ef for my last 10 pounds. Also some tweaking of my diet specially milk and exercise. I can not stay away from tea with milk(Indian way) I consume a cup of milk in all day teas. So my q is tea with milk breaks my fast? Also even if I start fasting now will that help me loosing my last pounds or my body will start getting used to of fasting and I’ll be stuck forever in my last 10 pounds. I have already lost 45 pounds in 3 months. Experts advice please.
Fasting for last 10 pounds?
Anything that spikes insulin will break a fast, and milk has an insulinogenic response.
what’s the rush on losing the last 10 pounds? 45 pounds lost over 3 months is amazing progress. why not just keep doing what you’re doing? it may also be advisable to try replacing the milk in your tea with heavy whipping cream if possible
Jason Fung tells his patients that a little cream in their coffee or tea is fine when fasting but a full cup seems like a lot. Try to get that lower and you are more likely to see better results.
I wonder if she/he meant over the course of a day she/he’s having 8 oz of milk in tea.
We’ve all given up things we “love” usually because we realize that they’re getting in the way of our goals. If something is keeping you from reaching your goals in life it’s a problem. You know the answer. I used to “love” flavored sweet artificial creamers in my coffee. I poured them down the drain when I started keto.
Did I enjoy my coffee as much? No.
Did I adapt to using HWC and no sweetener? Yes.
Do I miss the old stuff now? No.
We are highly adaptable creatures of habit. You can change yours and will eventually love your tea as much as you do now while you do what’s most important (reaching your goals with keto). What’s more important to you?
Yes I meant for whole day! I know we give up things but tea is one thing very hard for me. I have decreased the milk in tea I used to use by 1/4. I’ll give up that one day right now not able to
Full fat milk elicits a much smaller insulin response compared to 2% or skim milk, so there’s that. Otherwise, you could try giving heavy cream or half-and-half a go.
I don’t like taste of heavy cream and half and half in my tea. I use full fat milk and full fat everything. On other note I do breastfeed my baby. My husband always says I am loosing weight because of that he has no idea how this diet works because he has never dealt with weight problem in life. He eats everything but not too much and moderate workout.
Yes to this!!
I once thought I couldn’t drink tea or coffee without artificial sweetener…turns out I can!
I once thought I couldn’t drink tea or coffee without double cream…turns out I can!
I found after being keto for a while my tastes have changed. You will get enjoyment from things you once thought you never would!
This is true for me too, I quite like cream in my tea now - something I never thought I’d say!
I recommend a splash (1 to 2 tsp) of heavy cream. It won’t break your fast. Do not use milk.
Well, it’s because you’re eating keto, but the breastfeeding does help, I’m sure. Be sure to get enough protein. Until the baby is weaned, you’re still “eating for two,” after all.
It’s such a nice feeling isn’t it?!
I love knowing that keto is working for me, and that I’m not dependent on old habits any more.
The things I enjoy now, I would never have imagined myself enjoying a few months back!
