Has anyone tried water fasting for a few days then eating nothing but bacon for a day and then going back to water fasting? Thought on whether this would be a good strategy?
Fasting - bacon fast - fasting
How long have you been keto? What are your goals in fasting? What’s the bacon for?
Been keto for 8 months. So far I’m down about 50 lbs and another 40 or so to go. I’m at 30% body Fat by DEXA scan. I’ve done 2 seven day fasts and a few 3-5 day fasts. I find longer fasts ok but not necessarily easy. I was thinking a “bacon break” in the middle of fasting would allow me to keep the benefits of extended fasting with less challenge than doing a straight seven day fast. What spurred my thinking were the 7-30 day bacon challenge posts. I couldn’t really find folks who had been keto for a while and then did a bacon fast (so that you weren’t getting the initial keto weight drop from lots of water weight)
I am not sure, but check out the guy who did the 30 day bacon fast.
That’s the sort of bacon challenge I’ve seen before. My sense is that many of the people who do them weren’t keto before starting and so much of their weight loss was the early effects of going VLC. What I’m wondering is how would blending fat fasting and water fasting do as a strategy? My thinking is get in deep ketosis with a water fast for a few days then take a “break” with a day or two of bacon fasting, which should keep me in deep ketosis and then return to water fasting. My thinking is that it should give me similar weight loss but be easier than simply doing a 7 day fast.
Just wondering… did this work well for you? We’re you able to extend your fast that way?
Thanks. Work, World Cup and being a bit too relaxed with my own keto has lessened my zeal just a little. I know that newbs are safe in yours and others’ hands
