Fasting...and strict keto no results (not much) and convincing hubby i am not starving myself

So I had a miscarriage in April. Been trying SO HARD to lose the baby weight that I gained. I have been super strict Keto since and counting my macros, drinking ALL the water, staying away from alcohol, I do 5-7 yoga classes a week, plus, elliptical, or weights, or walking. I also have been making sure I am getting plenty of sleep. I think I have lost inches, haven’t checked, but my neck feels thinner. I am just not seeing ANY movement on the scale. I lost like 4 pounds the first week and now, nothing. Help. Also my husband has this idea that if I am fasting I am starving myself. I have sent him all of the facts on it, and he just is leery. I have been fasting from 9 PM to 4:00 PM daily last few days… and In the past I have done 24 hours, and he so worried about me teaching yoga, on a fasted stomach, like I am going to faint or something. Any suggestions? I’ve only tried it once, and I did ok, I just didn’t feel like the powerful way y’all say you get with fasting.

I’m not yet experienced enough in keto to give very specific advice, but these things pop out to me: you had a miscarriage  and it was only two months ago. Taking care of yourself since then sounds like a great plan, but feeling pressure to lose weight quickly is probably not so good for you. Stress/grief from the miscarriage plus stress from wanting to lose weight plus trying to stay strict with keto, plus what sounds like a lot of exercise = a lot of stress. High stress will prevent/slow weight loss in most people.

Independently of all that, a drop in pounds in the beginning and then a stall (though it might not actually be a stall if your inches are down) sounds like a fairly normal path for a lot of women.

For your husband: maybe having him read through the fasting threads on here? He might also be feeling scared and protective (which is kind of nice, and totally understandable).

Forget the scale and count the inches.

Just keep it up, it will come. Neither of you should be worried, going hours or days without food is fine, as is working out in that state. I am generally IF as well, sometimes I have a coffee before a 30 mile ride or a protein shake before a heavy day at the gym but that’s it. I fast 3 days every once in a while with no issues and a lot of people fast 5-10 days at a time multiple days a month, you aren’t starving.

Madeleine, I knew I was going to have the miscarriage a while before it actually happened, so those few weeks I did my best to REALLY take care of my body, I did lots of naps, no strenuous working out, lighter yoga etc… and yes I think you are right, he is just being protective. That last miscarriage really did a number on both of us. He’s probably more worried about me. Thank you for your kind words…
