No weight loss on fasting
I fasted from day before yesterday 8pm till now(still fasting) no weight loss. I am very disappointed by this. I was thinking fasting will move the scale I had only two cups of tea yesterday with very little milk and one today one cup so I have consumed only 3 cups of tea in 44 hours no weight loss. Also water some time plain sometimes with little salt. Am I doing some wrong here?
Fast- no weight loss
Maybe being impatient? Keto is a normalization process that includes normalization of weight. But it’s not a linear process. Sometimes other stuff takes precedence and weight stabilizes for a while. If you think fasting is just an easy peasy way to restrict calories, it’s not. You will have to take it to unhealthy extremes to do so and in the process will slow your metabolism as it adapts to your reduced/eliminated energy input.
My advice is calm down and not obsess over weight. Stay on keto, stricly sub-20 grams of carbs per day, to let yourself heal and rebuild. Weight will follow. You’re in this for the long term. Don’t sabotage yourself by doing dumb things.
So u suggesting don’t do fast. U saying it slows metabolism, is that true? I don’t want to stay hungry and sabotage my metabolism. In my mind I was just thinking as per so much I read fasting is good for u lus the weight loss. Omg
Anything can be done wrong and cause unintended consequences. I do 10-12 hour IF several days per week as permitted by my work schedule. These fasts include my sleep time, so are very easy to do.
I will let others more experienced and knowledgeable about fasting offer you more precise advice.
Huh ! I’ve fasted for forty eight hours and gained weight ! But Amwassil’s right, PATIENCE is the key. Really study Fasting before you do it and in the meantime just concentrate on eating keto…it will come to you eventually.
I did a couple of 48 hour fasts 4 months after starting keto and I didn’t lose any weight. If I fat fasted instead of water fasted I would lose weight. May have trigger the burning of fat? Also, I think it took my body closer to ~10/12 months to get truly fat adapted so now it’s a different story.
I listen to my body. If it wants to stall weight loss, it has a reason. So, then I feed it fat - which is what I want it to use for energy. The last thing I want is my body to think we have hit times of famine and slow metabolism to conserve fat. I don’t know what weight you are and what you have lost up to now, but I am a big loser and my stalls are welcome and necessary, fat re-distributes and tightens, skin tightens, and I don’t know what all adjustments my body is going through. So, when my body says “hey, I need a minute here” I say “cool, here, have some energy”.
If you don’t preserve your metabolism, you won’t lose and you will be prone to gaining.
We are all different, and at different stages of Keto and weight loss, if that is desired. So it’s hard to make any “one shoe fits all” rules.
How can you do anything wrong when you are only drinking tea?
I say be patient and perhaps continue with IF- that’s good for losing weight too.
Weight loss doesnt seem to be linear.
I stopped fasting now. Eating one meal a day and couple of tea. Made chicken meat balls with all herbs and spices today in ovan then cooked them in butter with one tablespoon of pasta sauce yummm I this kid I am eating too less that’s the issue. I will try to eat more now on and see. Thing is I did loose lot of weight and gained some back and loosing it now.
It’s not magic. Not eating for 44 hours isn’t going to show up on the scale. Try alternate day fasting for 2 weeks and then get on the scale. You’ll have 3-4lbs less fat. Given that water weight can fluctuate your weight by 3-4lbs in a single day, even after 2 weeks there is no guarantee that your scale weight will change. Doing it for two weeks has almost no effect on your metabolism.
