Fasitng

Hello,

when you’re fasting do you drink liquids such as tea, water? I’m trying to do intermittent fasting for like 12/18 hours and don’t want to ruin it by drinking tea.

Yes

I drink coffee and tea ALL THE TIME when fasting. In fact, I don’t think I could fast without them.

If you’re using flavored teas, just make sure they don’t have sugar or sweeteners added.

no sugar or sweeteners. do you add any cream or milk to coffee

Fasting, just water.
Intermittent Fasting - during off hours, green tea and coffee with a splash of cream. I figure the small insulin rise doesn’t hurt.

I don’t, but only because I drink coffee black. Many do use cream, and Jason Fung talks about that being fine if it helps. Since it’s mostly fat and so few carbs, it shouldn’t trigger an insulin response.

Sweeteners, however, can. They aren’t generally recommended durning fasts.

thank you. for the info. I don’t use sweeteners of any kind so I’m good in that aspect

cream in coffee and lactofree milk in tea… might be a UK thing.

I drink coffee every day.
On fasting days, I will have it with a drop of cream just to change the colour and add some creaminess, probably like 10ml. I realise it may hurt my fast but I am fasting for weight loss at this stage, once my goal is reached I will continue true fasting for the benefits.

On non fasting days, I will have one iced latte with almond milk.

I do 18/6 approx 5 days a week. Just black coffee, tea and green tea. I do flavor the green tea sometimes with rose leaves. But even that is maybe once a week.
