Family of 4 on carnivore. (I’m a poet)

This article says carnivore but more likely Ketovore. It was interesting to see how people spend their money. I wish they would have given the extra amount or weight, not just price. For example Fully-cooked bacon, $17.40.

We get those salmon from Costco.l When I first started keto, I got the fully cooked bacon all the time. I can’t remember the size though.

Also, $15/pound for ground beet from Good Ranchers? That seems expensive.

Carnivore Bars are great, if expensive.

Yeah… well… looking at the grocery list, they are not carnivore. I would just say they are keto.

Interesting! We’re a family of 7 and eat similarly (carnivore wife, keto husband, kids add fruit and other carbs sometimes)…except on half that budget. But we’re not in CA and nothing is organic.

Yeah, bananas, rice cakes, and jam are probably not great for keto. Might be able to stay keto, if those are infrequent. Or if you’re exercising a lot. Or both.

I did a test where I ate 100g carbs per day, and was still producing blood ketones. The problem was that if I ate that amount of carbs after a workout, I felt fine. When I ate that amount on a day I did not work out, all the bad effects of carbs came back: I was hungry, tired, moody, etc.

In the article it seems that the kids are eating the carbier stuff, so ketovore or carnivore parents, lower carb / more natural foods for the kids. I haven’t sampled Buffalo Wildwings in a long time, but my experience with commercially prepared wings is that they’re usually prepped with corn starch or flour, sometimes quite a lot, before frying.

I haven’t done a food budget in years but I’ll bet our per capita cost is similar or even a bit more, it adds up fast.

That’s for a week? I’m glad I don’t live in California.

I started this thread a few months ago. One of my youngest kiddo’s college friends found himself in a tight money situation with some mental health concerns since then… and did it. He’s still mostly carnivore even though his financial situation has eased a bit.
