Fake food - how lovely

(ianrobo) #1

Beyond meat are selling this fake food rubbish in the UK and the ingredient list

looks so inviting with all that crap in it and real meat does have water as the primary ingredient, but backed by the vegan lobby and lies it is working .

(less is more, more or less) #2

“Beyond meat” what a name. It’s also beyond my ability to even think about eating this rot.

(ianrobo) #3

And yet being so aggressive on their marketing … then we have muck like Oatly which is jus basically a flavoured sugar drink

A&W Canada have a veggie burger called “Beyond Meat” (and yes, it is from Beyond Meat in CA) It was so popular on launch (July this year) that they had to pull it because the suppliers couldn’t keep up with the demand. Now, they have relaunched (after a few month hiatus), and it is a wild best-seller.

Why anyone would have Beyond Meat is Beyond Me

It does meet keto Macro requirements - 20g fat, 20g protein, 2g net carbs. However, with canola oil as the 3rd ingredient, right behind water and pea protein isolate - I think I will pass…

Ew.

It’s not meat…

Ironically, most of the people eating it think that it is better for them and/or planet than the real thing. Our nutritional conventional wisdom today is so
ass-backwards
!

My daughter loves this stuff. She’s vegan. I’m hoping to save her someday…

I’ve always wondered why happy vegetarians would want their vegetables to be masquerading as meat.

(ianrobo) #8

Because they are not really the target now but meat eaters are. So backed by vegan lies on the planet and cancer etc we get those with genuine concerns being targeted by a campaign of lies and fake studies.

I suspect that – from their perspective – it will drag we savage carno-dullards into their camp with their ruse.

(Michelle) #10

If i was vegan or vegetarian I would not want anything resembling meat.

#11

Few people become vegan/vegetarian because they don’t like meat. Its usually for reasons of health, ethics, environmental concerns and so on. Whether they are right or wrong is a separate issue.

(ianrobo) #12

And these are the kind of lies we have to put up with https://www.instagram.com/p/BqVY799AnoT/

 Really had to laugh at that one.

Science Fiction.

This is one of the few that my wife and I can actually tolerate if need be. When you look at the ingredient lists on most of the other fake meats, they’re even worse, some much worse.

It’s not something we have but just a few times a year and it’s usually because of friends that want to eat with us that are vegetarian.

You really can do worse.

I’m not advocating it, only mentioning it doesn’t make one of us break out into hives and start swelling nor does it make the other of us puke n squirt for the next 12 hours after eating it. Yes, some of the other fake stuff does do that, no kidding.

(Running from stupidity) #16

I like the way they have the source listed so you can check it.

It seems that with all those oils it would not actually be very nutritious. There must be very little vitamins and minerals in it.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #18

Pea protein hot,
Pea protein cold,
Pea protein in the pot
nine days old.

Mic, sarcasm becomes you.
