Newbie here, no weight issues til I hit the menopause! Huge gain 14lbs! Permanently hungry! My leptin and grehlin are going mad. Struggle to get into ketosis, so trying first waterfast. This will be a toughie… any idea how to tame Leptin and Grehlin responses. Have stopped training temporarily as it sends my hunger into hyperdrive…
Extreme hunger! Leptin and grehlin sensitivity
I’m 54, in the midst of menopause. Keto for over 5 years.
What is working for me, finally, is cutting out any sweet tasting food. Even erythritol would trigger carb cravings and hunger.
I also eat what I call a Dirty Carnivore diet, with plant foods as condiments; mustard, spices, black tea, etc. So my carbs are under 10 grams per day.
And given that you are a Newbie, be patient and let your body adapt. Focus on fat and up your electrolytes and Magnesium.
Have you looked at the Rocket Fuel Latte from Healthful Persuit? I have one every morning and it helps with my hunger
My hunger was horrible too. I’ve only done 2 x 100 hr fasts and it has gotten a lot better each time. I can no longer eat 3 times a day even. I was definitely in keto etc and had to eat until I could eat no more.
You are hungry all the time anyway, so fasting isn’t that much different. You just have to mentally prepare to be hungry for 3 days (or whatever you pick out).
Some people say alkalyzing helps hunger (didn’t see anything in the LR searching I did). Drink acv etc till your saliva & urine are 7.2 - 7.4. I can’t say I notice a lot, but it may take a few weeks to righten the ship.
You can also try removing Nectins (I hope that’s the right word) from your diet. This is supposed to help with LR. Nicins == dairy and nightshade plants, which you only eat as tomatoes and eggplant (the rest are in carb food).
I’m still a long long ways from never hungry.
Please update if you find anything that works for you.
Dirty Carnivore diet- I never heard of that term. I’m still pretty new at this. I like it!
What is your protien macro percentage on that?
My guess is her macro percentags are still the typical 75 fat, 20 protein, 5 carb. The misunderstanding about ZC/carnivore is that it’s all lean chicken breast. You can get fatty meats and add butter and other fats to fit your Keto macros.
Honestly, I have no idea, since I don’t track calories anymore. When I was tracking protein briefly, I was eating about 50-60 gm per day. I am 125 lbs and 54, so not eating huge meals.
