Extra Virgin Olive Oil Scandal

#1

Hello fellow ketonians,

It has been about a year or so since I gave up extra virgin olive oil after listening to the NPR interview of author Tom Mueller about his book ‘Extra Virginity’

My wife is now going keto and I sure would like to find an affordable EVOO for us.

Oh well, at least we are human and are capable of adapting to all types of food stressors :).

Take care,

What was the premise that drove you away from olive oil? I’m wondering if I’m going about purchasing olive oil in the best way. I just ordered some from fresh pressed olive oil. I hope it is good. I have been attempting to upgrade my food choices. I feel like I’m eating less so I’m spending the same amount on quality verses quantity.

Hello Stacy,

Thanks for telling me about ‘fresh pressed olive oil’. I will check them out.

The reason that I gave up olive oil is because of the cost for real EVOO. The premise can best be explained by the book mentioned in my first post. I also posted the amazon link for you to check out the book and the reviews. The premise of the book is that if you want real EVOO you have to research to find a product that is truly EVOO and also when you find the product you will find that it wont be cheap. According to the author real EVOO is very expensive to produce so in order for the industry to sell cheap EVOO they simply sell some other type of oil and label it EVOO.
