Exogenous ketones like peregect Keto cause “issues”

(Jim) #1

Today I started using Perfect Keto powder. I’ve been very religious about my no carb except for veggies and some berries since June of 18. Lost 30 lbs. very sustainable and all the benefits I’m experiencing. But… I’ve decided to see what would happen if Ibought and possibly wasted 50$ for Perfect Keto exogenous ketones to see what would happen in the gym. I’m a fit dude. I lift 2-3 a week. I’m a coach always active. But today I’ve only had one serving of this product sized with my coffee (plus butter) and then worked out. Had a good workout too. But… I tested my ketones (Keto mojo) and they’re like .5, .3, .2, even a Lo. Which I never have had. So longggg winded question. Anyone had issues where using exogenous ketones counterproductive? This is my first post in the forum. I’m not experienced participating. Just reading. So not sure protocol on how this is done. Any help is appreciated. Thanks ! :muscle:t3::vulcan_salute:t2:

Jim, you did it correctly, people will see it. I don’t have experience with the product (or lifting 2-3 days a week  ) but someone should be along soon to answer. Welcome to the forums!

Never used exogenous ketones but I’m guessing if you had been measuring with pee sticks you would have seen them disappearing down the toilet… along with your hard earned cash…

Consider this. Ketones are a Fuel Source.
In your Urine they are the ones your body got rid of (because you are not able to use them efficiently enough. Celebrate, pissing out energy helps the weight loss)

In your blood, they are AVAILABLE Fuel.

So, if you EAT Them, your body will OFTEN TIMES stop burning fat, because it does not need them.

Also, the other ingredients can be the problem. They taste TERRIBLE, so they add SPLENDA or OTHER Sweeteners. This can TRIGGER an Insulin response. It does for me. Bam, knocked out of ketosis, eating sweet ketones!

Now they can suppress appetite, too. But read the label. You could experiment.
Taking less, etc.

But I don’t want ketones for the sake of ketones… I want to know I am burning my own fat.

Y’all thanks. Perefect advice. I read pee tests aren’t helpful I’ve checked blood. So now I know. The hype. Is what it was. It did curb my appetite just a tad more than usual. Imma stick with my own liver keytones. These maybe a good sub for people starting Keto lifestyle but not for me. What a great forum! Thanks for being encouraging (all folks in the thread) :+1:t3::+1:t3::+1:t3:

Another explanation is the amount of time you have been in ketosis (June of 18) is probably why you won’t be seeing any high ketone readings even with taking exogenous ketones on a blood meter or urinalysis sticks is because the ketones are being used by your body very efficiently especially by the brain?

Exogenous ketones are the equivalent of dietary fat so why spend the money on Laplanders piss when your own pee is worth millions (not really, because their are no ketones in it)? …lol :joy::rofl::joy::joy:
