Exogenous ketones from spices?

#1

I was doing a bit of internet googling to find info on a spice I bought and that I’m not familiar with: “grains of paradise”

This is what I come across in Wikipedia:

“The pungent, peppery taste of the seeds is caused by aromatic ketones; e.g., (6)-paradol (systematic name: 1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-decan-3-one)”

I’m thinking of using this spice for dinner tonight…I guess it is bonus if it provides more ketones! Here’s what it looks like, and it is usually used as one would use black peppercorns (ground pepper).

Ketones are a type of chemical with a Carbon oxygen double bond and the other 2 arms of the carbon aren’t populated with an OH (Hydroxy group) - so there are a lot of molecules that can be called ketones. But only three of them we can use for energy, and to be honest beta-hydroxybutyrate isn’t really a ketone.

Unfortunately this won’t give you caloric ketones, nor will Raspberry ketones which are one of the supplements that Dr Oz likes to spruik
