European Travel as a Carnivore?

…Who probably can’t do pork, dairy or eggs?

Thoughts? I’ve been to France, Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, (I might be forgetting a country) and in my memory, it would be really hard to avoid pork, dairy, and eggs if staying in hotels and eating in restaurants. So tour companies are mostly out.

Hubby and I are both healthy (and still young enough) to travel and we’re making it a priority, but I’m not sure where to start if we were to get a booking.com apartment and start scheduling stuff.

We have a side business that we have primarily for making travel money, so while we are budget travelers, we do have some flexibility.

I like Rick Steve’s guides, but I’m not sure how to even begin choosing a “home base”. Any BTDT? Thoughts? Random cool travel stories?

Where are you going this time?

When I went to Europe, often breakfast (which I ate back then) was great: sliced meats, cheeses, yogurts. After that, it was tougher. I was in Italy, Germany, Finland. Some are easier (Germany has a lot of meats but also has potatoes, etc.). Italy is a bit harder.

I was high carb in Italy, low carb in Germany and Finland, but did eat some high carb too.

Carnivore adds another layer of complexity, though.

Well. We don’t know where we are going. We’ve saved up for next summer, but I’m afraid I can’t navigate food without a kitchen. That’s why I’m trying to think outside the regular tours.

If you could cook for yourself, your diet would be a lot easier to manage, that’s for sure. Look for an apartment near a butcher shop or delicatessen!
