Before the nay-says take over this thread I’ll say first, it depends. They are not necessarily bad news. Do you get craving on days when you don’t drink any? Have you tried not to drink any for a few days in a row? How do you feel then? All energy drinks contain stimulants, mostly caffeine but there are usually others as well. It can be a fairly high octane mix, or not. If you get habituated to them you run the risk of experiencing ‘withdrawal’ when you don’t get your regular dose/fix. Do you know whether or not whatever sweetener is used has any effect on your glucose and/or insulin? Read the label carefully. As always, YMMV.

Former energy drinker here who has started using them again for a daytime pick me up while I manage feeling under the weather. I hate that you do crash when you stop drinking them, but also appreciate the B vitamins and other stuff in there. I’d say keep an eye on the carbs (mine have 4 per can) and count them. If you notice weight stalling they should be the first thing you look at.

We all do this in our own way. Some people can be text book perfect but many of us are experimenting. Keep us posted. You may be back in 6 months talking about how you gave them up and feel better. Or not. :grinning:

“Don’t think I can give them up.“
In my opinion that’s the biggest issue. I’d suggest you maybe kick the habit and then decide if it’s something you want occasionally instead of something that you absolutely must have.

I’ve never really seen the point of energy drinks, beyond paying lots of money for water. But if you like those drinks, why not have them, as long as you count their carbohydrate content towards your daily maximum.

The phrase I react to, however, is “Don’t think I can give them up.” To me, that resonates of addiction, and I don’t like substances to have power over me. Except coffee and bacon, of course!:grin:

My best friend drinks one or two of the white sugar free versions a few days each week and he’s lost 130lbs on keto from 376 to 246 and still dropping.
