Emerged from a Dark Place, My Story

(Hank) #1

A little background:
I started on Keto Jan 14, 2017 at 350 plus. I really don’t know the total number, I was in a very dark place. Keto was my last stop before I went the surgery path. Over that next year I cheated a bunch. And at one time got down to 315. On Christmas Day I weighed 340. Now, this was not a total failure as I had not ended a year below where I began in many many years.

On the 26th I rededicated on Keto. By mid January I had stalled at 335 and was frustrated and I found this forum. Within a couple of days I realized my folly. At that point my goal was to drive my carb intake below 10g and drive my fat intake above 80% of my calories. After a week I began limiting calories. I was in Keto flu for 6 weeks plus. But, the day I emerged I felt better than I had in 20 years. By then the weight had fallen to 320. By mid April I was down to 310. I only eat one meal a day. I do consume too much heavy cream in coffee. By mid May I was below 305 and by the last week of May I hit 299. I just returned from 3 weeks in France (where Keto was basically not possible). As of today, my weight is now at 292. The only exercise I am currently doing is walking. I plan to hold this regiment until I break below 265 then I hope to return to the weight room.

Fasting hasn’t worked for my as of yet. Is it habits or hunger? I really don’t know.

It looks like you are making good progress.

cool, eat your way to skinny, don’t worry about fasting until it is right for you, and I say start with dropping to 2 meals a day and no snacks and do that with out feeling hungry, then try longer if you like, or don’t.

Well done so far.

Well done Hank; your journey sounds like its progressing well! Eat to satiety with fat and don’t worry about eating/ not eating. Your body will tell you when its really hungry. I test mine by drinking water when I feel hungry. If I’m still hungry after 20 minutes I’ll eat a piece of cheese etc unless its OMAD time. This has worked well for me. Good luck with your continued success
