Elmlea

Can i have single and double ‘Elmlea’ cream on Keto?

(Cheryl Meyers) #2

If that is a kind of heavy cream (45% fat or so?) then yes, if you are ok with dairy. Some people have trouble with dairy so ymmv.

I think that is a cream ‘alternative’ yeah? If it’s the one I’m thinking of it has some nasty, inflammatory vegetable oil in it that I would personally choose to avoid. I think it’s a bit higher in carbs too.

It depends upon what your aims are.

Elmlea is a concoction produced by unilever consisting of buttermilk blended with vegetable oils. It contains palm oil.

I avoid processed foods like the plague and avoid palm oil for ecological reasons.

Why not just use real cream?

I had a gall bladder op some years back and cream is the only dairy product that gives me symptoms similar to gall bladder attacks. Crazy I know!

Thanks guys one to avoid methinks

Have you tried digestive enzymes? I understand that some people with gall bladder issues have fewer problems if they take them. Might be worth looking into if you haven’t already :slightly_smiling_face:

Someone bought me that one time I asked for double cream. I poured it down the sink.

(Jan Sib) #10

Yep that’s what I’ve just done.

Capture

Sorry but this is definitely not Keto.

Just use Heavy Whipping Cream, it is delicious in your coffee and/or tea =).

Make sure they are digestive enzymes and not probiotics. Probiotics didn’t do squat for me (that I could tell).

Digestive enzymes will turn a bowl of oatmeal into cloudy water, which is how I tested 3 brands. One was worthless and did nothing. The other two worked - the more expensive one worked better (of course!). I settled for the cheaper one that worked and it always helps when I need it.
