Electronic cigarettes

(ds) #1

Hello one and all,

Does anyone have information or experience regarding inhaled VG liquid and Nicotine Liquid from electronic cigarettes? I mix my own liquid and use only those two ingredients. Ive turned to them from cigarettes about 2 months ago and havent had a cigarette since. About 2 weeks or so ago i started looking at my blood sugar again , need strips for ketones, anyway though my blood glucose is pretty consistently hovering between 100-107. I check 3-5 times per day because of this. My blood sugars were always down in the 80s as a smoker, even less sometimes. I just completed a 6 day fast and as a smoker would have expected glucose readings in the 50s, but the lowest was 87 after 5 days. What should i do? Will i be ok like this for a few months or so while i put more distance between myself and cigarettes or should i smoke? That feels like a dumb question to have asked but im just so paranoid of elevated insulin due to the elevated glucose. Insulin is my boogieman.

i’ve googled around regarding this and i haven’t found anything concrete regarding pg/vg or flavors BUT that nicotine itself does/can raise blood sugar…specifically in diabetics
i didn’t search deep… got distracted or something but maybe you’ll find more definitive answers…

not that my vote counts or anything but…
NO! i do not think you should smoke regular cigarettes…they’re a much bigger boogieman with a farther reach

My recommendation is to find a way to kick the cigarette habit. Both forms. I know it’s easy for me to flippantly write this, but you are teetering on the edge of a sword, where both options aren’t good.

I know that on Keto Talk with Jimmy Moore and the Doc, they addressed this. It was a while ago, but if you look back at the feed, you’ll see it in the subject. Listen to that and see what the doc says. I don’t exactly remember, but it was something about glucose being in that liquid and Doc recommended against.

Ex-smoker here. I’m against any forms of NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy), as they just keep you addicted. I recommend reading Alan Carr - Easyway to Stop Smoking, or attend one of the clinics.

There are some parallels to keto I find - you need to take a leap of faith that you’re doing the right thing, and just do it. The other parallel is that there’s a lot of bullshit and misinformation out there about it, and there are large amounts of money at stake.
