Electrolytes in balance

(Crystal V) #1

Is salt, magnesium, potassium, etc. needed to help with electorates balance in the beginning for keto flu or is this something that is needed all the time while following a ketogentics diet?

Electrolytes are always important. Always best to get naturally from food, but may be necessary to supplement at times. Especially in the beginning when your body is dumping toxins and flushing electrolytes with those toxins.

Add extra salt to meals. Eat some on its own if you have a headache. Find a good magnesium supplement to avoid muscle cramps. Eat leafy greens and avocados for potassium. Beef is another good way to get potassium.
Offal may be one of the best ways to supplement as it’s incredibly nutrient rich.

The body needs electrolytes all the time, whether on the keto diet or not. During the induction phase of the keto diet, the electrolytes are flushed from the body when the body flushes excess water so your levels may be low. If you develop symptoms such as leg cramping, it is signal that magnesium levels are low.
