Electrolytes - Help!

(Bacon, Not Stirred) #1

I am so sick and tired of eating pickles all the time. I used to love them. They were my favorite! Now… blah! And broth. Same thing. So, here’s what I’m wondering:

Is SF Gatorade or Powerade okay on Keto? I know there’s a lot of debate about SF products… I’m just sick of asking my doctor this stuff. Hahahaha

Thanks in advance for the advice!

I use Powerade Zero but I may be an outlier.

How about taking electrolyte supplements and/or using pink Himalayan salt?

Try putting some pink salt directly on your tongue and letting it dissolve a few times per day, that really helped me. Also, as crazy as it sounds don’t overdo to water. I went from 6-8 liters per day down to maybe 3-4 and a lot of weird symptoms improved. Good luck.

I drink Powerade Zero as well. Seems to do the trick for me as well as just adding pink salt to most foods

I drink Smart Water

While water rocks, smart water does not have nearly enough electrolytes to be effective.

There is a recipe for ketoade that @Brenda has posted here. I drink 2 a day, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. It helps a ton

24oz of water
1/2 tablespoon magnesium citrate liquid
1/4 tsp lite salt
*optional sugarfree water flavoring

I supplement too. The Smart Water is just my gym drink.

I am about 2 months in to keto and I still feel like I need extra electrolytes. I made a keto-aide concentrate with some water in a small water bottle and I have been adding a splash to a glass of water. I also made a purse version by putting some into an empty MIO container. I used to barely add salt to my food before keto but now I add plenty of pink salt to food and sometimes just put some directly on my tongue. I have a purse salt shaker too, a tiny camping/hiking set. I think I may have also been missing out on salt from before keto.
