I recently experienced something similar but in my ankles. After visiting with a keto-minded nutritionist, I learned I was mineral deficient. Not only was this causing me to eat more salt and exacerbated the problem but the remedy has given me renewed energy.
Even if you are eating a clean keto diet with tons of leafy green veggies, those vegetables are grown in nutrient depleted soils, so I’ve learned. The answer for me has been roasted, salted sea weed and blue green algae called spirulina.
Each is readily available at the health food store. I also learned that I was not alkaline enough, possibly because I was breaking my fast with heavy cream. Since then I have had an egg with raw cheese and half an avocado to break my fast each day.
Proper nutrition is critical.
Making sure we get enough minerals makes a huge difference in the overall function of every organ in our bodies. I have had terrific success with these changes.
I also found Kombucha and macadamia nuts to be very helpful and yummy!
I hope this helps
Keep calm and keto on
