Same Day 4 as 3. I am about done. The egg salad is starting to make me gag and I love egg salad.
I will see where I am tomorrow.

I lost 2 pounds, down to 250 and I am done, ate supper, so today was OMAD and will weigh tomorrow morning but I feel great that I am at 250. Goal is 120, 130 pounds to go, hehe.
That is great, Susan!
I ended my egg fast after day 4. I cannot look at another egg for awhile. As of this morning, I did lose 5 pounds. I am at 244. I will see if I continue going now, although I would not be surprised to see it jump back up. I am fighting a strong set point, I think.
I did learn some things about myself during the fast. Namely, I do need to add more fat to my meals. It wreaks havoc with my digestive system because I have no gall bladder. I did not have as much problem when combining with the eggs. That did help prevent the constant bathroom visits and I only had 1 BM a day while on the egg fast. Usually, it is at least 3 per day. I will have to try and achieve that doing regular keto.
Congrats on the 5 pound lost, Laura. I had my gallbladder removed in December 2003, and I take 2 digestive enzymes I bought from Amazon everytime I eat, I do TMAD normally so I just take 2 when I am about to eat. When I am doing any type of fast, I still take two at the same times I normally eat (1pm and 5pm).
I am doing mostly carnivore, so protein with say a spinach salad (avocado mayo and olive oil dressing) for lunch and supper at 20:4 IF so fasting 20 hours a day. I am going to try and have more calories at lunch then at supper, no snacks.
I figure if I cook my meat in olive oil and am adding avo mayo and oo to my salads, or cooking the vegetables in olive oil then that is enough fats. I will see how this goes, but hoping if I do that and a weekly 48-72 hour water fast, then I hopefully continue to lose weight. I still have 130 or more pounds to go, so I am very determined =).
Good luck to you on your continued weight loss journey as well =).
Good day, I have again hit a plateau, I go for about 3 months losing about 10 lbs a month, then Iâll plateau. My question is, if I do this egg fast, can I do my daily routine of having a 2 cup mug of Bone Broth? I add 2 Tbls of salted, sweet cream butter, mmmm, with broth, for lunch.
As long as you arenât adding carbs it is fine. It doesnât seem to have any I donât think? You are meant to use butter on the egg fast so I think this would be fine.
Is it ok to do an egg fast with some cheese as well when your new to keto? I love eggs and it makes calculating macros easier. It simplify things. But Iâm only on day 12.
I wouldnât worry about doing any Fasting this early on in your Keto eating, Aimee.
Fasting is great, and I love it personally, but I didnât do any until I was fat adapted and into Keto for a few months.
Eggs are great to eat though, so having lots of them, with cheese, and bacon too is a great way to do Keto though!
If it makes it easier, you can certainly eat eggs as your protein with all your meals - some folks eat up to a dozen a day - until you tire of it! But not for fasting purposes, just for convenience, and very tasty with mayo, mustard, onions, hot sauce, avocados etc.
Give yourself a full 6 weeks at minimum to get 100% fat adapted before any structured fasting. And you might find you naturally miss meals anyway, due to new satiety, if youâre eating enough fat and protein.
Oh god, I donât think I could do a dozen a day. I was thinking more of like 6 . Yes its still early days. Donât want to get hungry. I hate hunger pains. It hurts.
And also really tasty served with a fry up in butter of long sliced green onions, with shredded Ginger. Smells great, looks appetizing, and helps early keto digestion. All sorts of ways to do Egg Keto - and lots of interesting international recipes (egg drop soup, egg curry, picked eggs, fritatta, quiche, oh my!)
P.S. Iâve read that aiming for at least half of your egg yolks to be only lightly cooked or raw has many nutritional benefits, as long as theyâre high quality eggs. You can put raw egg yolks into coffee or smoothies - and they disappear with no sulphur taste - and save the egg whites for other dishes etc.
I get full really quickly now. I was always hungry before I started this. Is it a good sign if Iâm full quicker and donât get hungry for about 17 hours? I eat at 7.30pm then am not hungry until 2pm the next day.
That is great! I built my body up to it but now I eat Lunch at 1pm and supper at 4:30pm so I am "Fasting from 5pm-1pm the next day (no calories, no snacking, I will have plain herbal tea and water but that is all). This is called Intermitant Fasting -20:4 -TMAD -two meals a day).
You seem to be doing 17 hours so yours would be 17: 7 --which is great, as long as you are getting enough calories in your two eating times. It is better to have 2 or 3 meals in that time period, and not snack between. I am no scientist at all! but it has to do with our insulin levels and fat burning though =).
I think itâs very individual. Many people are satiated for longer on a high-carb diet too and many longer term ketoers prefer to eat multiple meals. If you feel right and something improves, thatâs the good sign But many of us have a smaller window on keto, eventually. I did IF before keto but my eating window got smaller later, I think fat adaptation changed it. For some of us, keto changes little, fat adaptation is the real thing and they together are the best. Others feel drastic changes right in ketosis.
About the main topicâŚ
I know about egg fast since ages but never could do it. A day without vegetables? No way. So I only did fat fast.
Now I try out carnivore sometimes so this problem isnât a problem anymore. But I like eggs way too much to be able to do this. I eat (usually quite a few) eggs for every meal, not added fat.
The extra rules with zillion tiny meals is definitely not for me, I probably would be starving all day, very low-carb or not.
But itâs probably good for someone.
I do an egg day tomorrow, I always planned that but ended up eating other things as well. I will eat lots of eggs and not much else. Thatâs not quite my style either but it will be nice for a single day.
I will have normal carnivore days afterwards (normal for me, with lots of eggs. I typically did vegetarian keto before, heavily based on eggs). I consider that way more useful than egg fasts but maybe I donât get why this thing is good for anyone.
Itâs probably for people who get satiated with fat. I need protein way more and eggs with a tiny bit of fat give the most ideal numbers for me.
But I still might to try it out once. Without the insane rules about eating tiny meals all the time, even before 10am. No. Way. I never was good with rules but I am really incompatible with those. I know for a fact (or almost. with a very very huge probability) I would needlessly suffer.
