I wasn’t worried about how much I ate because my only goal was to adapt to keto diet, and in this respect I’m pleased because I got into ketosis quite quickly and after a little tiredness on the first days I now feel good. However, I was eating quite a lot - actually, loads - about 2,800-
3,000 kcal daily for a small male (though I excersize); and I imagined that I was gaining weight. I felt quite full sometimes and I thought my stomach was a bit distended and noyiced puffiness at first, but then I weighed myself - and I have lost 2 kilograms in about 4 days. I scrutinized myself in the mirror after that and I see I’ve become much slimmer around my torso. I don’t know what I’ve lost but it certainly seems to have come from around my abdomen as other parts look pretty similar, although paps my muscles are less pumped. So I’m wondering what’s going on; glycogen and water loss doesn’t seem to account for this weight.
I just don’t get it because I have eaten absolutely loads. I am quite certain that I am eating about 1 third more calories then I used to, and I think I should be putting on weight. Perhaps I’m not absorbing fat properly; afteral, I am farting from time to time; and it can’t be protein because I’m eating a lot less protein. Same too with fibre. This farting to me and case problems with digesting fats.
Has anybody else experienced eating a lot more then when on a carbohydrate diet yet losing weight? I suppose it could be glycogen and water but I have had a lot of salt and minerals, and I had been tapering off carbohydrates for about a week before I started this diet. It’s really confusing me. Has anybody else had similar experiences or could anyone offer an explanation? Maybe I am gaining fat but the fat gain is hiding behind glycogen loss, but then I do look slimmer. Look at myself now I definitely don’t seem to have put on any body fat full stop so where’s these calories going? Down the toilet?? Maybe I’m just pissing and farting them away!
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks
