I’ve only been on a keto diet for a little less than three weeks, but over the past week and a half I’ve had really dry skin localized around my eyes. I Googled it and found that usual causes are dehydration and not getting enough Omega fatty acids. But I really think I’m getting enough of both. I am drinking a ton of water and even using a keto-friendly electrolyte mix. And eggs are probably the number one thing on my diet. I purchase only the Omega eggs and eat a lot of them. The one thing that has changed from the first half of my keto journey so far to second half is I switched from net carbs to gross carbs. This has resulted in me eating far less fiber. But I don’t see that as a potential cause. I’m using moisturizer but I’d love to address the root cause if possible. Anyone else experience this?
Dry skin around eyes
Was curious if you eat grass fed organic butter?
Could (might) be not enough fat soluble vitamin A (retinol) in your diet?
The butter we are going through by the truck load is Challenge salted butter. I doubt it is grass fed, though I’ve never noticed any butter as labeled as grass fed even at the heady markets.
Yeah, the labels vary, maybe see if you can find or ask around to find some grass fed butter and see if it helps?
Or getting some pills, personally I hate resorting pills…
Here is something similar:
Hey @Ketodrick Did you ever find something that helped?
I’m in a similar boat right now. I am having dry, cracking skin all around my eyes.
I read somewhere that acetone levels can rise on Keto and cause a rash, but it mentioned different rash areas, not the eyes.
I am getting rather desperate because it’s very uncomfortable!
