Doomsday

Random thought: I can’t help but think if a disaster struck and the world went haywire keto peeps would have a much better chance of survival, we know what’s up. We wouldn’t starve, that’s for sure; fats are portable, protein too. (as I start hoarding bacon grease for the end of the world) :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Oh and not to mention we would spend way less time looking for food and be able to focus on other things.

Although harder to carry all that bacon around for an extended period of time…unless you cook it all i guess.

Yes. My plan is to get me and my family to the Kerrigold factory, and take control of it. As long as we can hold out there, we should be fine.

The technique of curing of pork (fatty parts included) has been developed many centuries ago…and still practiced today. It can last for months without problem. Examples are Spanish jamon iberico and Italian pancetta

Believe it or not, this has already been tested! Our species has gone through a number of disasters and evolutionary funnels; those who used ketones well survived and were able to breed, which is one of the reasons why our species is uniquely able to use ketones to their full potential.

I think of this in a few different phases:

For the first three weeks, keto adapted people will do much better than sugar burners. Our energy level will be higher which would allow us to get much further ahead. The sugar burners would be hoarding food stuff. Violence would be rampant as people began running out of food. If they broke into your house and only found coconut oil, kerry gold butter, himilayan sea salt, and bones, they wouldn’t recognize this as food. But they would take your cured meat.

After three weeks, things would get really bad. The bulk of the sugar burners would begin dying. The priority for the keto adapted will be protein. The more sustainable the better.

After three months, the overall population will be limited to three groups:

  1. Preppers who had planned for a non-recoverable crash.
  2. Raiders who have been successful taking on other groups and taking their food (and possibly resorting to canibalism). And
  3. Keto adapted people who were able to find sustainable sources of protein and fat.

So, learn how to find bait and fish, and keto on.

We’ll certainly all be less prone to mood swings than the glucose burners - so we’ll probably end up in charge.
I sometimes think it would take a zombie outbreak or the like to get the fucking food plate guidelines changed.

Some folks say store beans and rice for an emergency. I say go for the fat…

Ive been curious as to how someone who is keto would do on that show Survivor. One of the “contestants” usually ends up in a quivering ball of sickness and weakness unable to do anything. The keto person would be zooming around building shelters and being all kinds of productive. The tool we would bring would be a salt lick and some water purification tablets.

This sounds like it could be a great multi player game.

I guess cannibalism would be keto… or at least zero carb …
but if we ate the sugar burners would it raise my BG?

If it was a TV series, in the last episode, the leader of the keto tribe having finally found a safe sustainable future would find a packet of wheat seeds and think, “Hmmmmmm…”

Probably like eating “feed lot” beef!
