Dont drink the MLM Koolaid

(Heather Meyer) #1

Im telling ya… for the umpteenth time, I have been approached by a group of people trying to sell me on the latest “naturopathic developed” health supplement and of course…the side effect is “weight loss without change in diet”.

Nooooooo thank you. I tell any single person… if you want me to invest in let alone become an “associate” in the company, i need to know the product provides results and that the results are theraputic and its effiacy greater than products i find at my health food store and cost less. So fari have yet to be sold on one product from an MLM that has provided results thats better than what im already yeilding in cheap supplements in the health food store.

People tell me i look great and so much healthier, and they ask what my secret is… WHAT is my secret??? Oh its really quite simple…

                        Keto with Fasting!

Hate MLM. My cousin is on the Herbalife wagon. She tried to get me to buy it. (not even keto anyways, and even if it was- still a big NO!)) I got this far without any special shakes by just cutting carbs and fasting. Can’t make money off me!

My sister just bought into herbalife via a weight loss challenge. I warned her about it when she signed up and she said “Oh I’m just doing it for the challenge then I’m done”.

Challenge went up in smoke and now she can’t wait to tell me the discounts she’s getting on her overpriced soy protein.

My cousin at the time sent me a message (doesn’t look half as good as me…even when I am bloated…lol) saying she could help me lose weight. I was like…:“naw I’m good.”

then she realized her mistake and said “I can help you get strong.”

This coming from a person who has ZERO background in training except the crap workouts they might do at those herbalife places. If you aint’ snatching a barbell…not interested…

Lol… What? I told her I do Olympic lifting and kettlebell sport. Unless herbalife has some magic properties… nothing in that shake will get me where I want to go except a good coach. And I don’t train for aesthetics anyways. Keto for health, fat loss and to look good naked and training to be a badass.

As if you, of all people, had any need of Herbalife! :man_facepalming:

Someone tried to sell me some stuff and mentioned my weight. I was quite offended! Wrong way to try to sell to me.

Anyway, I’m a lifelong label reader and do-the-math pennypincher, so no.

Its actually scary how aggressive people can be when trying to pressure someone into buying somthing.

I was recently approached by a fellow health coach and podcast who was pushing a product, redox signaling molecules. I did a bit of research and it is just water. Buyer beware.

You guys, I took Herbalife years ago when it was packed with ephedrine. It was considered a pyramid scheme back then. I didn’t even know it was still a business!

(April Harkness) #13

yes they still exist, usually in some shady strip mall with the curtains still closed

(Allan Misner) #14

Actually, they are a publicly traded company. A few years ago and activist shorted them and began pushing for them to be shut down. He was unsuccessful for one reason, people do buy their crap.

Just found a guy at my gym that’s sponsored by Herbalife…meaning he gives them free advertising I’m sure for a discount on their really shitty gym clothes. I couldn’t look him in the eye without bursting out laughing or crying.

I just finished a podcast called Dream which investigates MLM schemes. It was interesting but the woman gets a bit mean spirited toward the end and I didn’t like her after that. It discusses who gets involved with them and why and details how the Federal Trade Commission tried to stop them (or didn’t try…it was confusing). Anyway, if you’ve already listened to ALL the podcasts and are looking for a interesting one give it a try.

I don’t know much about such companies, but I must say that their innovative social marketing programs or The Social Retail Model are very tempting and seem to be very rewarding. Well, I’ve never tried it but I’ve been tempted many times, so I don’t know what to think because the opinions online and not only are different. On the one hand, so many people say the products and the business itself are amazing, but on the other hand, also many people say it’s not worth the time and money. So what’s the truth then?

(Joey) #18

It’s all true…

The products and the business ARE amazing.

Just not so amazing for those suckers who actually buy the stuff.

With any MLM, the real product IS the MLM - that’s what you have to try to sell to others. Run away…
